Ramblings

Wow ...

• April spent just short of a month in Singapore - loved the food, loved the culture, loved the diversity, loved the plethora of religions respectfully existing together, loved the shopping, loved the beauty of an unbelievably clean city ... did NOT love the long flight and the jet lag upon her return
• Lena - well we almost killed her, discovered ibuprofen is not good for dogs in large quantities, we love to spoil her and she doesn't realize she doesn't have a tail, so when she "wags her tail" she wiggles her whole but ... hence her nick-name, Wiggle-Butt or Wiggles ... Love that little girl, blessed to have her stay with us when her "mommy is gone"
• Brandon and Blair - they GET to move again. This time to Omaha! Brandon is moving up to the Corporate office, working on some special projects thingy with GPS and some sort of maintenance something or other. They are busy planning a wedding, looking for a new home, and loving the sweet little Callie girl! She's the cutest little Wheaten Terrier ... big brown eyes, cute blonde long hair, and all kinds of energy.
• Nolan is busy planning his spring break trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama. in seven short weeks he'll be graduating ... maybe it's 8 ... any way you count it, it's just around the corner and I'm not sure he's ready to leave the Gentlemen of SAE and move to Lincoln, where he'll start his new job with NelNet as an IT Auditor.
• Doug is missing his little Lena ... misses her so much he's taken on a second job :) ... He's working out to Wilkinson Tool and Die when they need some extra help. Keeps him out of trouble!
• Me ... well I'm hanging out at home, quilting some (OK quilting a LOT), quilting with a dear friend, quilting with some wonderful FC folks, preaching now and again, and making list upon list of things i never seem to get done.
• The BLOG ... I think I need to rethink this ... I need to make a list of topics for those "off days" when I have nothing going on in my lil brain. Hmmmmmmmmm guess I better make a long list. Any ideas?

Those are just a few things happening in V'z Land ... oh yeah, and some really cold rain that's supposed to maybe turn to ice, then snow, add in a touch of HIGH winds ... wow, should be a great Wednesday!

Guess Who's At My House

I really, truly did have the best of intentions for this blog. I really, truly did mean to post 3 to 5 times a week. The best of intentions seem to have flown out the window. I do have some perfectly great excuses ... honest and true ... really. So I think that it's true that a picture is worth a thousand words:

Just a quick morning at home ... no, I don't have any kids at home!

The picture, over there on the right, is our daily mess. Lena takes out every single toy, looks it over, chews on it, tosses it around, and moves on to the next toy. Saturday, this past weekend, Doug and I had to get some things in Mason City ... stopped by our favorite pet sort of store ... "Fleetfarm"! After picking up the mess of toys night after night, I told my sweet spouse, Lena NEEDS some things.

You guessed it ... the picture below is a quick snapshot of the "few things" that Lena got when we went to Mason City. No, she's not spoiled ... she didn't beg for anything. But this is what she got on Saturday:

We cleaned out the old, replaced it with some new ... and she even got to try a pigs ear ... She was in hog heaven (pun intended).

April's been in Singapore for 2 weeks, we've gotten daily updates. She is doing well ... lots to keep her busy ... she's seeing the sites, experiencing the flavors, and taking in shopping. And her little nugget, Lena, is enjoying the sites here, experiencing the flavors, and loving "grammie's" shopping.

Lena got to have a "pig's ear" for the first time. She loved it!

A day in our life with little Lena ... toys, walks we wouldn't normally go on, "school", tricks, wiggles and lots of smiles. She's been so good for us ... glad we've had the opportunity to take care of her for April.
